High processing accuracy

Especially for some small and medium-sized through holes, the cylindricity can be up to 0.001mm. Some parts with uneven wall thickness, such as connecting rods, can achieve a roundness of 0.002mm. For large holes (diameter above 200mm), the roundness can also reach 0.005mm, if there is no ring groove or radial hole, etc., the straightness is also possible within 0.01mm / 1m. Honing is more accurate than grinding, because the bearings that support the grinding wheel outside of the hole to be hobbed during grinding will produce deviations, especially for small holes, and the grinding accuracy is worse. Honing can generally only improve the shape accuracy of the workpiece. To improve the position accuracy of the parts, some necessary measures need to be taken. For example, use the panel to improve the perpendicularity of the end surface of the part and the axis (the panel is installed on the stroke bracket, adjust it to be perpendicular to the rotating spindle, and the part can be processed against the panel).


Good surface quality

The surface is cross-reticulated, which is conducive to the storage of lubricating oil and the maintenance of oil film. It has a higher surface support rate (the ratio of the actual contact area between the hole and the shaft and the matching area between the two), so it can withstand larger loads and resist wear, thereby increasing the service life of the product. The honing speed is low (one tenth of the grinding speed), and the oilstone is in surface contact with the hole, so the average grinding pressure of each abrasive grain is small, so that during honing, the calorific value of the workpiece is very small, and the surface of the workpiece is almost No thermal damage and metamorphic layer, small deformation. The honing surface is almost free of sand embedding and extruded hard layer.


Wide processing range

Mainly process all kinds of cylindrical holes: through holes, axial and radial intermittent holes, such as radial holes or slot holes, key slot holes, spline holes, blind holes, multi-step holes, etc. In addition, with a special honing head, it can also process conical holes, elliptical holes, etc., but due to the complex structure of the honing head, it is generally not needed. The cylindrical honing tool can be used for honing cylinders, but the removal amount is much smaller than that of inner honing. Honing can process almost any material, especially the application of diamond and cubic boron nitride abrasive, which further expands the application field of honing, and also greatly improves the efficiency of honing processing.


Low cutting allowance

In order to achieve the accuracy required by the drawings, honing is the processing method that removes the least amount of all processing methods. In the honing process, the honing tool uses the workpiece as a guide to cut off the excess margin of the workpiece to achieve the required accuracy of the workpiece. When honing, the honing tool first honing the workpiece where the largest margin is needed, and then gradually honing to the place where the least margin needs to be removed.


Strong hole correction ability

Due to the deficiencies of the remaining various processing techniques, some processing defects will occur during the processing. Such as: out of round, bell mouth, corrugated hole, small size, waist drum shape, taper, boring cutter pattern, reamer pattern, rainbow shape, hole deviation and surface roughness, etc.


The honing process can greatly improve the dimensional accuracy, roundness, straightness, cylindricity and surface roughness of the hole and outer circle by removing the minimum machining allowance.
